Farofa

Image“Farofa” is a typical Brazilian dish made of toasted manioc flour (farinha de mandioca torrada).  It’s usually served as a side dish along with “feijoada” or grilled meat. 

 

Ingredients:
 2-3 tablespoons of oil or butter
 1 chopped onion
 250 g. of chopped bacon
 1 package of toasted manioc flour (500 g)
 chopped parsley and spring onion
 salt and ground black pepper to taste

 

 Preparation:
 1. Sauté the onion and bacon in hot oil.
 2. Add the flour bit by bit, all the seasonings and stir-fry well.

 

Remarks:

You can find toasted manioc flour (farinha de mandioca torrada) in Brazilian supermarkets and grocery stores.

You can find ready-to-eat-farofa (farofa pronta) in Brazilian supermarkets and grocery stores. It’s very practical and convenient for those people who don’t have time or don’t like cooking (but is not so good 🙂
